Pho is a Vietnamese traditional food, maybe specific food in Vietnamese cuisine. Main component of Pho is rice noodle and consomme with thin beef or chicken’s slice. Also including with spices such as: pepper, sweet soya sauce, lemon, chilli, fish sauce….Pho usually used as breakfast food or dinner.

Origin and difference:

Some supposition that the city may appear first in Nam Dinh Province, but Ha Noi is the place to make food that has become famous as today.

Pho originated from North Viet Nam, adopting Middle and South Viet Nam between 1950s.

Nowadays, Pho has processing different methods and flavour. In Viet Nam, the name distinguish them are: Pho Bac ( in the North), Pho Hue (in the middle), Pho Sai Gon (in the south).

Pho in Sai Gon

Vietnamese people in the north migrated to the south in 1954 to bring it and it began different. In the south, especially in Sai Gon, the beef in Pho is often sold by 5 type: chin, tai, nam, gau, gan ( sorry I can’t translate to English) depended on clients, also one a big cup of water (water of cattle bones). Pho in Sai Gon must be often sold with lemon, chilli, onion, beansprouts…, which the vegetable must have, separate in the dish.
